Web Designer?

Web designer adalah seseorang yang bekerja dengan unsur-unsur visual dan grafis pada suatu halaman web. Dia adalah orang yang membuat wajah halaman web tampak begitu “cantik”. Para web design mengintegrasikan komponen seperti gambar, file flash, atau multimedia ke dalam halaman web untuk menambah pengalaman visual user, atau untuk melengkapi content page.

Pemahaman tentang Client-side scripting, HTML, CSS, cara memanipulasi image dan animasi merupakan beberapa hal yang dikuasai oleh web designer.
Berikut adalah bagian hal yang harus dipahami oleh seorang web designer:
• Client-side scripting: JavaScript
• Server-Side scripting: PHP, ASP, dsb.
• Cascading Style Sheets
• HTML
• Manipulasi image : Adobe Photosop, GIMP, Corel Draw, dsb.
• Animasi, biasanya berupa flash.

Web designer biasanya bekerja dalam tim untuk memastikan sebuah tampilan website dapat membuat aplikasi web bekerja dengan baik. Keterampilan tambahan berupa komunikasi, tentu akan menjadi sangat berguna bagi para web designer.

Sisi lain yang juga harus dipahami oleh web designer adalah usability / kegunaaan, standar W3C untuk HTML dan CSS dan kompabilitas tampilan pada browser yang berbeda

Pengertian web desain itu proses penyusunan konsep, rencana desain, pembuatan model desain web, dan pengeksekusian cetak biru desain ke dalam bentuk situs. Nantinya situs ini dibuat menggunakan bahasa markup seperti HTML. Bahasa markup itu diterjemahkan web browser seperti Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, dan WebTV) pada interface software browser tsb. Nantinya situs menampilkan konten internet (atau yg biasa kita sebut World Wide Web… WWW).

Tujuan mendesain web itu bisa beraneka motif kepentingan. Namun biasanya, alasan mendesain web itu adalah agar bisa membangun situs berisi ribuan halaman situs yg tersimpan pada web server/servers dan menampilkan konten secara interaktif kepada pengguna web menggunakan web browser. Untuk mencapai tujuan web desain itu, seorang webdesigner mendesain menggunakan elemen web berikut ini

Apa Itu Website ?

Website adalah kumpulan halaman-halaman situs, yang biasanya bertempat dalam sebuah domain atau subdomain, yang tempatnya berada didalam World Wide Web (WWW) di Internet. Masing-masing halaman website biasa disebut dengan web page, sedangkan halaman utama dari sebuah website biasa disebut homepage. Web page adalah dokumen yang ditulis dalam format HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), yang hampir selalu bisa diakses melalui HTTP, yaitu protokol yang menyampaikan informasi dari server website untuk ditampilkan kepada para pemakai melalui web browser. Semua publikasi dari website-website tersebut dapat membentuk sebuah jaringan informasi yang sangat besar. Sebuah website dapat merupakan hasil kerja orang-perorangan (individu) atau menunjukkan kepemilikan dari sebuah organisasi, perusahaan, dan biasanya website itu menujukkan beberapa topik khusus, atau kepentingan tertentu. Sebuah website bisa berisi hyperlink yang menghubungkan ke website lain, jadi, kadangkala perbedaan antara website yang dibuat oleh individu perseorangan dengan website yang dibuat oleh organisasi bisnis bisa saja tidak kentara. Website ditulis, atau secara dinamik di konversi menjadi HTML dan diakses melalui sebuah program software yang biasa disebut dengan web browser, yang dikenal juga dengan HTTP Client. Halaman web dapat dilihat atau diakses melalui jaringan komputer dan internet, perangkatnya bisa saja berupa Personal Computer, Laptop Computer, PDA ataupun Cellphone. Sebuah Website statik, adalah salah satu bentuk website yang isi didalam website tersebut tidak dimaksudkan untuk di update secara berkala, dan biasanya di maintain secara manual oleh beberapa orang yang menggunakan software editor. Ada 3 tipe kategori software editor yang biasa dipakai untuk tujuan maintaining ini, mereka adalah : * Elemen 1 Text Editor. Contohnya adalah Notepad atau TextEdit, dimana HTML diubah didalam program editor tersebut.

* Elemen 2 WYSIWYG editor. Contohnya Microsoft Frontpage dan Macromedia Dreamweaver, dimana situs di edit menggunakan GUI (Graphical User Interface) dan format HTML ini secara otomatis di generate oleh editor ini. * Elemen 3 Editor yang sudah memiliki template, contohnya Rapidweaver dan iWeb, dimana, editor ini membolehkan user untuk membuat dan mengupdate websitenya langsung ke web server secara cepat, tanpa harus mengetahui apapun tentang HTML. Mereka dapat memilih template yang sesuai dengan keinginan mereka, menambah gambar atau obyek, mengisinya dengan tulisan, dan dengan sekejap mereka sudah dapat membuat website tanpa harus melihat sama sekali kode-kode HTML. Sebuah website dynamic adalah website yang secara berkala, informasi didalamnya berubah, atau website ini bisa berhubungan dengan user dengan berbagai macam cara atau metode (HTTP cookies atau Variabel Database, sejarah kunjungan, variabel sesi dan lain-lain) bisa juga dengan cara interaksi langsung menggunakan form dan pergerakan mouse. Ketika web server menerima permintaan dari user untuk memberikan halaman tertentu, maka halaman tersebut akan secara otomatis di ambil dari media penyimpanan sebagai respon dari permintaan yang diminta oleh user. Sebuah situs dapat menampilkan dialog yang sedang berlangsung diantara dua user, memantau perubahan situasi, atau menyediakan informasi yang berkaitan dengan sang user. Ada banyak jenis sistem software yang dapat dipakai untuk meng-generate Dynamic Web System dan Situs Dynamic, beberapa diantaranya adalah ColdFusion (CFM), Active Server Pages (ASP), Java Server Pages (JSP) dan PHP, bahasa program yang mampu untuk meng-generate Dynamic Web System dan Situs Dinamis. Situs juga bisa termasuk didalamnya berisi informasi yang diambil dari satu atau lebih database atau bisa juga menggunakan teknologi berbasis XML, contohnya adalah RSS. Isi situs yang statis juga secara periodik di generate, atau, apabila ada keadaan dimana dia butuh untuk dikembalikan kepada keadaan semula, maka dia akan di generate, hal ini untuk menghindari kinerjanya supaya tetap terjaga.

Aqsa Living Furniture Design Competition 2009

Deadline: 15 Mei 2009

Background

Established in 1999, AQSA International formerly known as Indonesia Antique or Indo Antique. It has grown into a well-established manufacturer and exporter company with in-depth knowledge of indoor wooden furniture. On its development Indonesia Antique enlarge the scope of business into group of companies under the name of ‘AQSA International’ which is divided into Group of AQSA Living. AQSA Living includes Indonesia Antique, Aquila, and Qabana.
AQSA Living is aware that furniture is essential in our daily lives. At the same time, it represents lifestyles. Thus, AQSA Living believe, furniture should be well-designed and equipped to deal with the growing needs of consumers.

The final goal for this competition is not only for the purpose of being winning a prize but also to introduce fresh ideas in terms of design into the furniture industry. AQSA Living strongly believe that designs must keep up with the changing society and environment and should express new relationships between human beings and their lives, between human beings and furniture as well as between human beings and the environment. We are certain that designs should contribute to the creation of a better life and society.

We are looking forward to see your inspirational designs which will enable us to realize our dream.

Rules and Condition

Theme :
The competition will be set up in 2 different categories:

1. Any kind of living furniture in set (bedroom, living room, dining room, bathroom)
* Bedroom set, items consist of : headboard, bedside/night stand, chest, wardrobe, trunk, dresser
* Living room set, items consist of : bookcase, TV table, glass cabinet, coffee table, sofa, console table
* Dining room set, items consist of : dining table, dining chair, wine rack
* Bathroom set, items consist of : hanging shelf, towel rack, basin holder, mirror

Participants for this category have to design minimum 3 items each sets, as well as they are allowed to design more than 1 set.
2. Individual / Single furniture
* Coffee table
* Nest table
* Stool
* Table base in knock down system
* Day bed
* Lamp table

Participants for this category are allowed to design more than 1 single/individual item.

The furniture designs submitted must be newly created and previously unpublished. “Unpublished” means that the work has never appeared on the market as a product, has never appeared in any newspaper, magazine, or exhibition, and has never been a winner in other competition before the sponsor announces the results of the main selection process. A work which has appeared in students’ exhibitions is considered unpublished.

Materials of Furniture

1. Main material: wood and any kind of veneer
2. Secondary material: rattan, bamboo, glass, cast iron, leather, etc
Secondary material by mean as an accent and or decoration to combine with main material.

Qualification
Any individual, group or business will be eligible.

Number of entries
No limit is set on the number of entries from any applicant.

Registration fee
No registration fee required for this competition

Copyrights, patents right and industrial properties
All designs/pictures/CD and other hard or softcopy material received by Aqsaliving related to this competition will be treated as property of AqsaLiving company.

2. Participants should submit the designs in 3 different views (left side, right side and front side).
3. Participants are allowed to send both 3D pictures and/or hand sketch.

Special requirement:
All participants have to send the designs both in softcopy and hardcopy file with detail requirements as follow:

Hard copy :

1. Fill in the application form and send it together with color photos (90mm�~130mm) of the work.
2. Please number the photos on their back side in the order that you wish your photos to be arranged in the preliminary selection process and also provide an arrow on the back to show the upper side of the photo.
3. Prints or photos of the actual work or the prototype, and then computer graphic will be considered.
4. The applicant is prohibited to use any letters or signs which indicate the identity of the applicant on the front side of photos.
5. The photos or print materials of applicants will not be sent back.

Soft copy :

* Format only JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) file is acceptable.
* Maximum capacity of the file data is until 300Kbyte/per file.
* Size maximum size of the graphics is height 800 x width 600(pixels).
* If the graphical size is extremely small, AQSA Living might expand the graphical data on purpose as matter of convenience for judges.
* Please provide us suitable size preferably.

3. Mr. Ulung Wicaksono (Professional Photographer – Bali)

Award Selection

1. Preliminary selection process
* Date: 15 May 2009 [UPDATE]
* Ten works will be chosen by AQSA Living Team to proceed to the next stage on the basis of the submitted photos and the product outline given in the application.
2. Main selection process
* Date: end- May, 2009
* Judge will examine the 10 actual works sent to AQSA Living and the judge will choose five winners from these.
* All the 10 applicants will be notified of the results of the main selection process by letter or e-mail by 11 June 2009
3. No explanation of the results will be provided.
4. Awards
For set designs :
* Gold Prize : USD 4.000,00
* Silver Prize : USD 3.000,00
* Bronze Prize : USD 2.000,00

For single/individual designs:
* Diamond Prize : USD 2.500,00
* Pearl Prize : USD 1.500,00

Note: tax is included in the awards.
5. Presentation of Finalists’ works
A special presentation of each piece that reaches the Final will be made by AQSA Living.

Others

1. Disqualification
Entry works that violate the following conditions shall be disqualified. If a violation is discovered after the selection process, the applicant will lose all rights to the competition.
* The entry must not violate the application qualification rules.
* The entry must not have the same or a very similar design to any work announced to the public before. The entry must not violate copyrights, patents and other related rights of other registered products.
